When it comes to wholesome, nutritious meals, there are plenty of options for the main three. In fact, we reckon there are more breakfast eateries in Perth than ever before offering healthy meals ranging from poached eggs to pancakes. However, there are far fewer options for anyone who wants to make smart food decisions but also enjoys brunch and afternoon tea. Well, that's what we thought as well — that is until we took a quick look at what some amazing Perth dessert restaurants and cafes have to offer. There's healthy Banana Bread, Blueberry Muffins and plenty of other options that you can treat yourself with, without feeling too guilty. Let's take a look:
1. Banana Bread
Healthy Banana Bread is arguably the best brunch option as it combines the delicious, delicate baked sponge that all of us cake-fiends crave, with the nutritious fruit that will help us get through the day. That's probably why Zucca Espresso has decided to make a variety of Banana Breads packed full of fruits and nuts, all of which will go perfectly with any of the hot beverages available on the menu. In addition to the plain Banana Bread dish, Zucca Espresso offers a Raspberry and Pear recipe, a Blueberry Banana Bread and, for nut lovers out there, a Walnut variety.
2. Date And Honey Loaf
While tasty, healthy Banana Bread may be the most well-known sweet loaf out there, that hasn't stopped other Perth eateries from getting creative with their own treats. Take The Coffee Club for example, where they've added the Date and Honey Loaf to their menu alongside some cheeky dishes like Gooey Caramel and Butterscotch Cheesecake, and Chocolate Mud Cake with Cream, which also sound absolutely scrumptious. If you're watching what you eat though, try to stick with that Date and Honey Loaf; you won't be disappointed.
3. Vegan Chocolate & Raspberry Cake
If you're looking for raw food, vegan treats then Perth has you covered. In addition to smoothies, juices and more hot beverages than you can shake a stick of celery at, there are plenty of desserts on offer at Living Green Café. Their popular Vegan Chocolate and Raspberry Cake slices are exactly what it says in the title, as well as being utterly gluten free, dairy free, sugar free and, most importantly, tasty. Other equally healthy(ish) options include the low-carb Cookie Dough or Peanut Fudge Donuts, Vegan Blueberry Key Lime Pie and Brownie Cupcakes.
Last but certainly not least, we absolutely must mention Cocoa & Rose, where you can purchase a variety of Muffins to accompany your Cappuccino, Organic Tea or even, if you're a particular rebel, your Dirty Filthy Chai. Alongside Banana Bread and Fudge Brownies, there are at least four different types of mini Muffins on offer, though we'll keep it a surprise as to what they offer. (Read: we're not sure; it may change on a day-to-day basis).
