Just last year, Melbourne was labelled the vegan capital of the world and numerous Brisbane-based establishments began selling healthy snacks of the vegan variety like no one's business. More recently, an incredible number of vegan-centric restaurants and cafes have opened their doors to customers in Perth, truly proving that there are vegan alternatives to almost every dish.
Of course, Gold Coast hasn't been left out of this vegan revolution, with many vegetarian and vegan eateries popping up all over the vast metropolis. One particular area that Gold Coast seems to excel in is healthy snacks made with vegan ingredients, so today we thought we'd take a look at a couple of vegan grab-and-go options on offer.

Fortunately for vegans around the world, one of the leading food trends right now is acai bowls. Over at Orchid Vegetarian Café they've taken the acai bowl concept and run with it, creating over a dozen varieties, many of which are vegan-friendly. For anyone new to the Brazilian superfood, Orchid Vegetarian Café's Original acai bowl is a great option. Their recipe is simple yet supreme, with succulent super berries, banana and coconut water all topped off with a healthy heaping of fresh fruit and granola. Though there are a number of dishes featuring protein-packed meat and eggs, there are a number of vegan snacks on offer too. Take their Vegan Quinoa Fritters for instance, a delicious dish made using fresh sweet potato and kale, topped with quinoa, juicy tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach and avocado. This snack is packed full of everything you could need to make it through the day and the best part is you can eat it on the go.
3. Roast Mushroom & Tofu Bruschetta
Described as a "haven for foodies and fun lovers", Beachside Pavilion is a beautiful restaurant that specialises in fresh sustainable seafood, Hawaiian poke bowls and big, meaty burgers. So, where are the vegan dishes you may be asking? Well, this diverse eatery also offers a number of raw food options, including bruschetta dishes such as the Roast Mushroom and Tofu Bruschetta, finished off with fresh basil, cherry tomatoes and sesame balsamic dressing and Grilled Polenta Bruschetta with basil pesto, roasted capsicum and asparagus. 4. Super Green Salad
Finally, we have to mention Mandala & Co of Mermaid Beach, where veganism and fresh, local produce are the number one priorities. In addition to healthy snacks such as Amazonia Acai Bowls and cheeky Crispy Cassava Chips, which are gluten free but maybe not so healthy, there are a number of scrumptious salads. Take the Super Green Salad, packed with kale, barley, tomatoes and all the other veggies you'd expect, as well as pineapple, sultanas and walnuts. The whole salad is tossed in a basil dressing to add extra taste, ensuring that this salad is anything but boring.
