Groove Train is all about the fusion between local ingredients and authentic European flavours. You'll find their quirky industrial style refreshing, and their versatile menu makes it easy to find something you'll adore. Serving up bold, aromatic dishes, it's the heart and soul poured into every single dish that makes it stand out. And it'll keep you coming back for more, whether you're after a hearty breakfast or an indulgent dinner for two.
Simply the best
The masterminds behind Groove Train believe it's their commitment to using the freshest and most ethically-sound ingredients around that gives them the best taste you'll find anywhere in Australia. The Groove Train stands by three key principles when it comes to their food – quality ingredients, careful sourcing, and cooking everything from fresh.
Influences are global – from American home-style fries and authentic Italian pasta to Indian-inspired toppings. Grab a bite of Thailand when you order the Thai Calamari Salad – made with Australian-caught squid fried till crispy, cucumber, carrots, cabbage, and plenty of zingy dressing and lime.
Where it all started
It was entrepreneur and restaurateur Rocky Veneziano who first envisioned the Groove Train concept. Back in 1998, something was missing from the dining scene – and he had the hunger to change that. Rocky wanted daring food, full of new flavour combinations, that brought a touch of European vivacity to Aussie streets. He saw a place where people would come for the cuisine, but stay for the conversation – and the public loved it. Fast-forward almost 20 years down the line, and there are now over 20 restaurants from Melbourne to Brisbane, with more on the horizon.
There's a side of ethics on offer here, too – everything is sourced from carefully chosen suppliers. The meat in your seared beef salad hails from the finest grass-fed cattle of the elite Victorian High Country and Gippsland regions, while that tender chicken parmigiana started out as La Ionica Poultry.
Pass me the menu
With so many cultural influences at The Groove Train, you won't be disappointed when it's time to order. For your starter, try the crispy salt and pepper calamari for a taste of Italy, made of freshly fried squid from Australia's coast and served with a tangy tartare sauce. Continue the Italian theme and opt for a homemade, wood-fired pizza for mains. Get one topped with mozzarella, gorgonzola, mascarpone, prosciutto and authentic Napoli sauce – made fresh using real Italian tomatoes.
For dessert, we'd recommend their signature dish, the chocolate calzone. This mouth-watering concoction sees hazelnut chocolate, fresh strawberries and chocolate sauce wrapped up in their freshly-made pizza dough, and served with a rich vanilla ice cream. What more could you ask for?
